Year 10 student Scarlett Kaplan shares her thoughts on the Opening Mass.

The Opening mass is celebrated annually at Rosebank College. In 2017, it was extra special as this year marks our 150th anniversary and the 160th anniversary of the Good Samaritan Sisters. Our morning started with a ceremony around the Memorial Garden. The Year 9 students and special guests gathered around the cemetery to honour our Good Samaritan Sisters who have gone before us. The remaining community witnessed this as it was projected onto the big screens in Benedict Auditorium.

Mass then followed, which included a presentation from a recent Year 12 graduate. She talked about her experience with school and ways in which she achieved such a fantastic score in her HSC, her dedication to study and her motivation and tenacity to always strive to achieve what she wants in life. This personally touched me because I relate in a way that I have such high expectations for myself and want to achieve the best I can.  Once this part of the Mass had concluded we gathered outside the new building to bless the statue of Mother Scholastica.   Overall this experience was a wonderful opportunity for our College community to connect and celebrate.
